UFAB Legwarmers Pattern
The Be A Freaking Unicorn fundraiser has been a great way for makers in and adjacent to the yarning community to come together to show our love and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
When I saw Amanda at Stitch Noir’s BAFU colour way I knew it needed to be fuzzy leg warmers! (because who doesn’t love fuzzy leg warmers?). By holding it double with Laura from Twin Oaks Farm’s Wool/Mohair sock yarn you get the best of all worlds. Stretch, strength, warmth, texture, and colour all in a 100% natural combo.
And as for the name, when I realized that BAFU backwards was UFAB… it seemed like the only option.
20% of the purchase price of this pattern will ALWAYS be donated to OK2BME (details about them below)
Notes:
- this pattern can easily be made bigger or smaller around at the ankle by increasing or decreasing the cast on in multiples of 4
- you can also easily adjust the length by adding more or less rows, just keep in mind that for an adult they are written to hug the leg so trying them on to adjust the increases for the calf will be helpful
- REMEMBER changing the size may change your yarn requirements!

(From their website) OK2BME is a set of support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ) kids and teens in the Waterloo Region.
I was able to work with this organization years ago doing henna for the youth and volunteers at their annual Pride Prom event. It was such an inspiring experience getting to see young people gather together and feel safe to be whomever they want to be and therefore they will always be near and dear to my heart.
